Pyridine
Application Notes
Pyridine act as a solvent for anhydrous mineral salts, organic and inorganic compounds. It is Synthetic intermediate in laboratory and industry. Its weakly basic nature allows it to act as a proton acceptor in acid base reactions, and to form salts with strong acids. In the acylation of alcohols, pyridine can act as a nucleophilic catalyst. Various reports have described the use of pyridine to prepare such compounds as indanones, 2 cyclopentenones, polycarbonates, symmetric aromatic trisulfides and tetrasulfides, and calcium-? 2-pyrazolato complexes.
