This kit provides a reagent set to allow simple, rapid detection of enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) strain O26 by amplification of the verocytoxin gene (VT gene) using PCR. The EHEC (VT gene) PCR Screening Set includes primer mix, Takara Ex Taq HS polymerase, buffer, dNTPs, and control template for the amplification of a 171-bp verotoxin target and a 685-bp internal control. This EHEC PCR assay is designed for analysis of DNA extracted from food samples using the hot alkaline extraction method. After running PCR, samples are subjected to gel electrophoresis, allowing visualization of VT and internal control bands.
